Along the Little Ossipee River, quite a few trees were ripped out of the ground, blocking a favorite boating spot on the river.

Ted Mieszczanski lives in the southern part of Riverdale. While his home was fine, when he drove around the neighborhood the next day, 254th Street was a mess. “It looked like a bomb went off,” said Mieszczanski, “I mean there were trees that had been pulled out of the ground that were sitting in concrete and the concrete was turned over.”

It’s just like any relationship — time heals all wounds. After two or three years, they see each other every day, and they don’t talk about it all the time. It’s very true to life, and at the same time, there’s always this great built-in tension, because anytime you say the word “baby” in the same room as the two of them, it’s like a bomb went off.

EWING — Township resident Ted Schwing looked through the window of his Princeton Avenue home and watched as his 2005 Ford Taurus baked under ferocious flames sparked by lightning and downed live wires Sunday afternoon.

“It sounded like a bomb went off,” Schwing, 36, said of the lightning strike that also knocked down a tree.
